Zach Soflin Presents at Restore Omaha Conference

Our fearless leader Zach Soflin, RA, spoke at Restoration Exchange Omaha’s 2019 Restore Omaha Conference with BVH architect and preservationist Julie Cawby, AIA. Julie and her team have been using Layer to collect, manage, and share building data for the eight-year, multi-phase preservation project on the Nebraska State Capitol building.

Julie and Zach spoke about the process of developing a documentation tool and its practical application in a historic preservation practice. They also discussed how open-source technology is useful in developing tools like Layer and how this tool is a model for how architects work and collaborate as an industry.

Restoration Exchange Omaha was founded in 2013 when three preservation-related groups in the Omaha-Council Bluffs area came together to form one cohesive advocacy group.
