Software Engineer

Lincoln

Layer is looking for a Software Engineer to join our team. You will work with a small team on a web application designed for Architects, Construction, and Building Operations professionals to manage building data across the entire lifecycle of a building.

As a Software Engineer, you will be doing front-end and back-end web development in JavaScript (TypeScript) using modern web technologies. You will be on a small development team working to continuously improve our product for our users. Layer is a progressive web application designed to work on most desktop & mobile devices. We regularly ship new features to production and we want you to make an immediate impact.

We're looking for

  • Experience - 1 to 3+ years in modern JavaScript web development. You will be working in Angular, React, Node.js, and a number of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services including Firebase. Bonus points if you have GCP or Firebase experience, but this is not a requirement.

  • Problem Solvers - we want you to be passionate about solving problems for our users (more on that below). We move fast, break things, and work closely with our users to build a better product.

  • Owners - we’re a small team, which means you will be taking ownership of your work throughout the development process.

We are

  • Focused - we are extremely protective of your time. You’ll spend more time building and less time in meetings.

  • Balanced - no nights and no weekends. We have a minimum vacation policy of 3 weeks per year, and if you aren’t taking enough vacation we’ll be bugging you about it.

  • Relaxed - we work hard, but don’t take ourselves too seriously. Our engineering team is based in Lincoln, Nebraska, with most of us split our time in the office and home about 50/50.
