Layer's Submittals Template

Architect
Engineer

Layer's Submittals template gives architects, engineers, contractors, and owners a single project structure for managing the submittal review cycle. The template includes three categories: Contacts for the GC, subcontractors, and consultants; Spec Sections for the CSI sections used on the project; and Submittals for the log itself. Every submittal record carries a submittal number, title, type, revision, spec section, submitter, review dates, and a status drawn from a fixed list of Pending, Under Review, Approved, Approved as Noted, Revise and Resubmit, Rejected, Void, and For Record Only. Resubmittals link back to the original submission to preserve the full revision history. The template calculates the review deadline from the contract review period, flags items as overdue once the GC's contractual deadline passes, and records days in review when an item is returned. Three pre-built document templates produce the Submittal Log Report, Review Transmittal Letter, and Receipt Acknowledgment directly from the same data. Existing logs can be imported from Procore, Submittal Exchange, or Excel using the included column mapping reference.

Log each submittal with a number, title, type, spec section, and submitting subcontractor. Record the date received, the contract review period, and the GC's contractual deadline. Attach the original submittal package, or import an existing log from Procore, Submittal Exchange, or Excel using the included column mapping reference.

Link each submittal to a Contact for the subcontractor and GC, a Spec Section for routing to the responsible reviewer, and any resubmittal to its prior submission. The template calculates the review deadline, an Is Open flag, and an Overdue flag from the dates you enter, so the Open Log and Overdue views stay accurate without manual updates.

Generate three document outputs from the same data: a Submittal Log Report for meeting packets, a Review Transmittal Letter for returning reviewed items to the GC, and a Receipt Acknowledgment for incoming submissions. Save the template structure to reuse across future projects.
