Can I copy a category?
No, categories cannot be copied or duplicated within a project. Templates can be used to copy categories between projects, or update existing categories.
If you want to copy a category, first consider using a Select field and filtered views to achieve the same results within the same category.
If you still would like to duplicate a category, you'll have to create the category and fields manually, or use our Spreadsheet Import tool to create the new fields.
What is the difference between the category name and instance name?
The category’s name is what is displayed when selecting or interfacing with the category in the app and is usually a plural noun referring to the type of data “instances” the category contains. The instance name is usually a singular noun indicating the type of Element within the category and is used when auto-naming newly created Elements. For example, a category named “Rooms” will contain many instances of “Room” elements. Newly created Elements in the Category will be named “Room 1”, “Room 2”, etc. by default.
