Session 1 of the Layer Maker Course
Welcome to the Layer Maker Course. This is the first of ten live, virtual sessions covering everything you need to build great workflows in Layer.
Session 1 introduces the four building blocks every Layer project is made of: Projects, Categories, Elements, and Fields. By the end of the hour, you'll know how to set up a new project, structure its data, and define the fields that capture information on each element.

What we'll cover
How a Layer project is structured, and how it connects to a Revit model
Categories: the high-level groupings inside a project (Doors, Rooms, Equipment, and so on)
Elements: the individual records inside each category (Door 101, Conference Room 305, AHU-1)
Fields: the data captured on each element (dimensions, finish, rating, condition)
How field types map to common architectural data: text, number, date, single and multi-select, image, file, relationship
Who it's for
Architecture firms evaluating Layer for Room Data Sheets, FF&E, surveys, or condition assessments
BIM managers and project leaders rolling Layer out to their team
Anyone with an active Layer trial who wants a structured walk through the basics
