Session 4 of the Layer Maker Course

This session covers Models. If your firm wants every project to have the same door schedule structure, the same FF&E categories, or the same condition-assessment fields, Models are how you make that happen. Publish a structure once, and every project that subscribes to the Model gets it.

By the end of the hour, you'll know how to publish a Model from a working project, how to subscribe other projects to it, and how the sync between Model and project actually behaves.

What we'll cover

  • What a Model is, and when to use one vs. project-local data structures

  • Publishing a Model from a project that already has the structure you want to reuse

  • Subscribing a project to a Model and pulling in its categories and fields

  • Sync direction: pull-only, push-only, and two-way, and the implications of each

  • Versioning: how Model versions are managed, and how to roll forward or pin a project to a specific version

  • Common patterns: company-wide door schedule, FF&E master list, condition-assessment standards

Who it's for

  • Firms that want to standardize project setups across their portfolio

  • BIM managers responsible for templates and firm standards

  • Operations staff rolling Layer out to multiple teams or offices
