Session 6 of the Layer Maker Course

This session covers Layer's two spatial views: the Drawing View for 2D plan-based work, and the Model View for 3D BIM. Both views connect element records to a location, which is what makes field surveys, markups, and on-site reviews fast.

By the end of the hour, you'll know how to load drawings and Revit models into a project, pin elements to locations, and navigate between the spatial and tabular views of the same data.

What we'll cover

  • Loading a Revit model into the Model View through the Layer add-in

  • Working with floor plans, site plans, and PDF sheets in the Drawing View

  • Pinning elements to coordinates and locations

  • Markup tools: pins, polygons, annotations, snapshots

  • Filtering the Drawing or Model view by category, field value, or status

  • Jumping from a pin in the spatial view to the element record (and back)

  • Working offline on iPad and syncing on reconnect

Who it's for

  • Field teams doing surveys, condition assessments, or punch-list work on iPad

  • Project Architects reviewing FF&E placements or room data against the model

  • Anyone using Layer alongside Revit who wants the spatial connection to feel native
